Project Biashara began in 2009 as a way to help women living in Kibera, one of the world's largest slums, earn an income and provide for their families. What started as a micro loan project to help these women start small businesses has quickly developed into a full-time jewelry making co-op, employing more than 30 women from the Kibera slums.

The mission of Project Biashara is to help provide a path to escape the poverty cycle. We not only give the women the resources necessary to sustain an income, but work on meeting a number of needs that come with living in the slum. Your purchase is not only providing an income, but a better life for families living in Kibera.

We are an affiliate of New Hope Initiative, a registered 501(c)3 that works to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the community of Kibera.
